Wagholi, 30th November 2025: The WACO Welfare Association has announced its decision to enter the political fray ahead of the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, marking a notable shift in Wagholi’s civic landscape. The declaration was made during the ‘Sneha Sammelan and Ekta Samvad’ event held on Saturday at Khalsa Lawns.

Following months of public outreach and growing support from residents of Wagholi, Kharadi, Chandan Nagar, Lohgaon, and Viman Nagar, the association stated that it is now prepared to actively participate in municipal governance.

“Our strong voice against corruption and injustice will now make its mark in the PMC elections as well,” the organisers shared during the event.

WACO Welfare Association President Anil Kumar Mishra, who is set to contest the polls from Wagholi, said that the mandate for change is coming directly from the people. “People’s support is our greatest strength. If the people demand change, that change will surely happen,” he stated.

The association has revealed its preliminary plan to field candidates from Ward Numbers 3 and 4. Names of the official contestants are expected to be announced soon.

The move has sparked conversations across the suburbs, with residents closely watching how a citizen-led group positioning itself against corruption and administrative inefficiencies could shape the electoral dynamics in the east Pune region.
