Pune, 2nd December 2025: Khadak Police have arrested two men from Kondhwa for allegedly selling sedative tablets illegally for recreational use. A total of 6,900 tablets classified as controlled substances were seized during a raid near Jedhe Chowk in Swargate on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Sameer Hameed Shaikh (40) and Sunil Gajanan Sharma (34). The arrests were made after police received a tip-off about their planned drug sale. Officers intercepted the duo on a two-wheeler and found a large cache of banned pills in their possession.

A follow-up raid at their Kondhwa residence led to further recovery of tablets, officials said.

Police stated that the suspects were reportedly selling these tablets without prescriptions in areas such as Kondhwa, Kashewadi, Hadapsar, Camp, and Yerawada. Investigations have also revealed that Sameer has a previous cheating case registered against him.

A case has been filed under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and both accused have been remanded to police custody till December 2. The operation was conducted under the supervision of PI Manojkumar Londhe and API Arjun Kudale.

According to police, the sedative tablets are intended for patients with severe insomnia but are frequently misused for addiction and intoxication.
