Safety Concerns Grow as Schoolboy Attacked in Broad Daylight; Pune Police Intensify Search
Pune, 2nd December 2025: A schoolboy was injured in a shocking incident that unfolded recently at a PMPML bus stop in the Maharshinagar area, where an unidentified man attacked him with a sharp weapon following a brief verbal exchange. The accused fled the scene with two companions, prompting the Swargate Police to launch a manhunt.
Police officials said the 14-year-old student, who lives in Badhenagar, Kondhwa, had just finished school and was waiting at the PMPML bus stop near Pujari Udyan when the attacker approached him without warning. The man reportedly stared at the boy aggressively before striking him with the weapon he was carrying, causing an injury to the student’s hand.
The startled teenager shouted for help, after which the assailant escaped along with his associates. The boy sustained minor injuries but managed to alert nearby citizens, who informed the police control room.
Following the report, Senior Police Inspector Yashwant Nikam and Crime Branch Inspector Vikas Bharamal reached the location and carried out a preliminary assessment of the scene.
Based on the student’s statement, Swargate Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation. Police Sub-Inspector B. P. Shirsat is leading the probe, and teams are analysing local CCTV footage to trace the suspects.
Officials noted that the episode bears resemblance to an incident reported in Bhavani Peth last year, where a school student was stabbed after a dispute. In that case, Khadak Police had detained the youths involved for attempted murder.
Police have urged citizens to remain alert and report suspicious behaviour around school zones and public transport stops as efforts continue to identify the attackers.
