Pune, 2nd December 2025: Pune’s international air connectivity improved further on Tuesday with Air India Express starting a direct Pune–Abu Dhabi flight. The airline announced that the new service is aimed at catering to rising overseas travel demand and enhancing global links from the city.

The flight will operate three days a week — Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday — departing from Pune at 9.10 pm. The route is expected to benefit passengers including IT professionals, business travellers, students, and those working in Gulf countries.

Officials noted that Pune’s strong positioning as an education, IT, manufacturing and research hub has led to consistent demand for direct international routes. The new service is expected to support easier access to the Middle East and boost business exchanges as well as tourism.

The launch further strengthens Pune Airport’s presence in the international aviation network. Improved connectivity with Abu Dhabi is also expected to create opportunities in employment, trade and investment for the region.

Union Minister and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol welcomed the development, stating that the new service reflects the city’s growing global relevance. He said efforts are underway to expand airport infrastructure and increase international flight operations from Pune.

More overseas routes are likely to be introduced soon, potentially marking a significant phase of expansion for Pune Airport’s international operations.
