Pune: Two Senior Citizens Abducted for Rs 2 Lakh Ransom in Alandi; Police Rescue Victims, Arrest Duo

Alandi, 12th December 2025: A visit to the revered pilgrimage site of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj turned into a terrifying ordeal for two elderly devotees after they were abducted near Chakan Chowk on Tuesday afternoon. Alandi Police have since arrested two suspects and safely rescued the victims.

Police said the two senior citizens had travelled to Alandi for darshan when they were accosted by Sachin Suresh More (30) and a 40-year-old woman, both residents of Charholi Khurd. The suspects allegedly forced the victims into a vehicle and soon contacted their families, demanding a ransom of Rs 2 lakh.

The son of one of the victims raised an alarm after receiving a distress phone call and immediately lodged a complaint at Alandi Police Station. Acting on the alert, police teams launched a swift search operation and tracked down and arrested both accused within hours.

According to the Police, the abducted devotees were rescued unharmed and have been placed under medical observation as a precaution. Investigators are now probing whether the duo may have targeted others using similar tactics.

Alandi Police said further investigation is underway to verify the background and criminal history of the suspects.
