Pune Book Festival 2025: Traffic Diversions Announced on FC Road and JM Road
Shivajinagar, 12th December 2025: With the Pune National Book Festival set to begin at Ferguson College Ground from December 13 to 21, the city traffic police have announced temporary traffic changes on FC Road and adjoining routes to manage the expected rush of visitors.
Officials estimate that nine to ten lakh people—including VIPs, students, and residents—will attend the festival over nine days. Anticipating heavy footfall, the Deccan Traffic Division has introduced route diversions to prevent congestion on Jangli Maharaj Road and Ferguson College Road between 9 am and 10 pm throughout the festival period.
Alternative Routes
* Vehicles heading to Karve Road via Jangli Maharaj Road will be diverted at Balgandharva Chowk and routed through Riverside Road and Mahadev Mandir to reach their destination.
* Motorists travelling from Karve Road towards Shivajinagar via F.C. Road must take the alternate route via Nalstop, Law College Road, and Senapati Bapat Road.
Parking and Entry Arrangements
To streamline visitor movement, dedicated entry and parking systems have been set up:
* All vehicles—including two-wheelers, four-wheelers and buses—must enter the Ferguson College parking ground through Gate No. 3 (Sant Tukaram Maharaj Paduka Chowk).
* Visitors are required to exit through Gate No. 4.
* Gate No. 2 of Ferguson College will remain open exclusively for pedestrians.
* Free parking for cars and two-wheelers will be available at the B.M.C.C. College premises and the Pune Municipal Corporation parking area in front of Gate No. 2.
The traffic department has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the temporary restrictions and use alternative routes to avoid delays during festival hours.
