Pune, 16th December 2025: A total of 43,107 cases were disposed of through settlements during the National Lok Adalat held across all courts in Pune city and district on Saturday (December 13), officials said. The settlements resulted in the recovery of Rs 220.47 crore as compromise amounts.
The National Lok Adalat was organised as per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, and the Bombay High Court. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge Mahendra Mahajan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Pune District Legal Services Authority.
Both pending and pre-litigation cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat. Of the 50,734 pending cases placed before various benches, 8,054 were settled in a single day. These cases had already been filed in courts and were awaiting adjudication, in some instances for several years.
In addition, 1,72,805 pre-litigation cases were considered, enabling parties to resolve disputes without entering formal court proceedings. Of these, 35,053 cases were settled through mutual consent.
Confirming the figures, Revati Deshpande, Secretary of the Pune District Legal Services Authority, said that a total of 43,107 cases across both categories were resolved amicably during the Lok Adalat.
