Free Non-Clinical Skills Workshop Organised for Nurses at BJ Medical College and Sassoon Hospital

Pune, 22nd December 2025: A free professional development workshop focusing on non-clinical skills and career guidance for nurses was organised at B.J. Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital by the Maharashtra State Nurses Association (government-recognised).

The workshop was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council and court directives, which require nurses across Maharashtra to complete 150 credit hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for renewal of their professional registration. The initiative aimed to support nurses in fulfilling these requirements while strengthening essential skills beyond clinical duties.

The inaugural session was attended by Sumitra Tote, State General Secretary of the Maharashtra State Nurses Association (Headquarters, Latur), who was the chief guest. The programme was presided over by Matron Vimaltai Kedar. Other dignitaries present included Council Member Savargawe, Principal of the Nursing College at Sassoon Hospital Mrunmayi Deshpande, workshop observer Prabhavati Ranpise, Pune branch president Arifa Shaikh, and organisers Anjita Mendhe and Ashwini Bhave.

Expert lectures were delivered by Dr Rupali Salve, Vimaltai Kedar, Dattatray Kardile, Mrunmayi Deshpande, and Dr Rahul Pandit, covering various non-clinical and professional development topics relevant to modern nursing practice.

The programme was compered by Babasaheb Karale and Sunita Gite, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Ashwini Bhave, Assistant Secretary of the association. The organisers acknowledged the support of office-bearers and members of the Pune branch, representatives from other districts, nursing college officials, and student nurses’ association advisors for the successful execution of the workshop.
