Pune: Kalyani Nagar Residents Flag Illegal Rooftop Bars, Commercial Use of Residential Spaces at ‘Coffee with Ajitdada’
Pune, 12th January 2026: Residents of Kalyani Nagar raised concerns over illegal rooftop bars and the conversion of residential properties for commercial use during the “Coffee with Ajitdada” interactive session held on January 12, 2026, at the banquet hall of Hotel Four Point on Nagar Road.
During the open dialogue, residents including Monica Sharma, Yasmin Charania, Rajeshwari, Haresh Harakh and Kundan highlighted violations related to rooftop bars operating in residential areas. They submitted written complaints citing issues such as the absence of parking facilities, lack of fire safety clearances, noise pollution and concerns over public safety.
The interactive session was organised to facilitate discussions on civic and infrastructure-related issues in the Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency, covering PMC Wards 3, 4 and 5. Residents said the unchecked operation of rooftop bars and restaurants in residential zones has disturbed the peace of neighbourhoods and posed safety risks to local residents.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured participants that the complaints would be examined by the concerned departments and that necessary action would be taken in accordance with rules and regulations.
Organisers said the objective of the forum was to strengthen citizen participation in governance and encourage dialogue-based, practical solutions to address urban challenges and improve the quality of life in Pune.
