Pune: Viral Video of Assault on Pan Shop Vendor Sparks Outrage in Pune’s Magarpatta
Magarpatta, 27th January 2026: A video showing a pan shop vendor being assaulted and his kiosk vandalised by a group of men in Pune’s upscale Magarpatta area has sparked widespread outrage on social media, raising concerns over public safety and street-level crime.
As the footage circulated online, social media users condemned the violence and demanded swift police action. Many expressed concern over the safety of small business owners operating in busy commercial neighbourhoods.
The incident, reportedly recorded on January 24, shows seven to eight men confronting the shopkeeper at his roadside kiosk. The attackers are seen physically assaulting the vendor, damaging parts of the shop, and issuing verbal threats, while the victim struggles to protect himself amid the chaos. Bystanders in the vicinity were reportedly left in shock.
Pune Police confirmed they are aware of the viral clip and have initiated a verification process. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify the individuals involved and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Authorities added that the motive behind the attack remains unclear at this stage, and further details are expected once the suspects are identified and questioned.
