Pune Police Ban Protests Outside Political Offices and Leaders’ Residences After Congress–BJP Clash

Pune, 16th February 2026: Pune Police have announced that protests will no longer be permitted outside political party offices or the residences of political leaders following clashes between workers of the BJP and the Congress.

The decision comes a day after stone-pelting broke out during a BJP protest outside Congress Bhavan over the Tipu Sultan controversy. Eight people, including journalists and police personnel, were injured in the incident. Police have registered FIRs against workers from both parties.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said authorities will designate specific locations for demonstrations. He added that details of approved protest sites will be announced soon.
