Pune, 28th February 2026: The construction of the new bridge over the Mutha River has entered its final phase and is scheduled to be opened for traffic by the end of May 2026, ahead of the monsoon, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has said. Once operational, the bridge connecting the Suncity area on Sinhagad Road with Warje is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on Rajaram Bridge and along the Sinhagad Road corridor.
The bridge project involves an estimated cost of ₹32 crore. The structure is 275 metres long and 30 metres wide, with three traffic lanes on either side. A two-metre-wide footpath has been provided on the bridge, along with seating arrangements for pedestrians at select locations, with widths extending up to three metres.
A site inspection was carried out on Friday in the presence of Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. During the visit, local corporators, civic officials and residents highlighted issues faced in the area, following which instructions were issued to address them.

City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, Project Department Chief Engineer Dinkar Gojare and Road Department Chief Engineer Rajesh Bankar were also present during the inspection.
Civic officials said road widening works on the Suncity and Warje sides will be taken up by removing existing bottlenecks to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow. The focus, they said, is on providing safe, convenient and continuous connectivity for commuters.
With a large volume of vehicles using Sinhagad Road daily, the opening of the new bridge before the onset of the monsoon is expected to provide significant relief to motorists and improve overall traffic movement in the area.
