Women Must Care for Their Own Health to Build a Stronger Society: Mayor Manjusha Nagpure
Pune, 7th March 2026: “Women often think first about their families, children, and society, but we must also learn to care for ourselves. To be successful in life, the most important investment is our health,” said Manjusha Deepak Nagpure, Hon’ble Mayor Pune Municipal Corporation while speaking at the launch of “Sanjivani – Giving Her a Better Life,” a women empowerment initiative by Symbiosis.
Marking the occasion of International Women’s Day, Symbiosis launched “Sanjivani – Giving Her a Better Life,” a flagship initiative aimed at strengthening support systems for women and promoting their health, development, and social empowerment. The programme was held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Auditorium, Symbiosis International University Campus, Lavale Hill Top, Pune. The event was graced by Pune Mayor Manjusha Deepak Nagpure as the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis, in the presence of Mrs. Sanjivani S. Mujumdar,

Expressing her long-standing association with the institution, Mayor Nagpure said she felt deeply connected with Symbiosis. “I was here even before I became a corporator or mayor. More than a guest, I feel like a partner in this noble cause,” she remarked. Highlighting the values that have guided the institution, she added, “Under the visionary leadership of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Symbiosis has always lived by the motto ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ — the world is one family. With the launch of Sanjivani, that spirit of family is being extended to ensure the health and empowerment of every woman in our community.”

Referring to India’s legacy of inspiring women leaders, Mayor Nagpure noted that Indian history is filled with examples of extraordinary women who have shaped society. “From brave warriors like Rani Lakshmibai to pioneering educators like Savitribai Phule, women have always shown the world what true leadership means,” she said. She also emphasized the vital role women play in shaping future generations, citing the example of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his mother Jijabai. “Behind every great leader is the strength, courage, and guidance of a woman,” she said.
Encouraging women to remain proactive in a rapidly evolving world, the Mayor stressed the importance of continuous learning. “We must learn something new every day. In today’s changing world, knowledge and awareness are essential for progress, and women must stay informed and embrace new technologies,” she noted.
