Pune: Sinhgad Dental College Doctor Found Hanging at Home, Police Investigate Work Stress Claim
Pune, 9th March 2026: A 45-year-old doctor and head of department at a dental college in Pune allegedly died by suicide at his residence on Friday. Preliminary information suggests that work-related stress may have driven him to take the extreme step. The case has been registered under the jurisdiction of Sinhgad Road Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Raju Patil (45), a Pune resident who was serving as a department head at Sinhgad Dental College and Hospital.
According to police officials, the incident came to light on Friday afternoon, March 6, when Dr Patil’s wife returned home and found him hanging. She immediately informed the police.
After receiving the information, a team led by Police Inspector Vinay Patankar reached the spot and conducted a panchnama.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the residence. In the note, Dr Patil reportedly mentioned that increasing work pressure had led him to take the step, officials said.
Police are currently investigating whether work stress was the sole reason behind the suicide or if there were other contributing factors. Further investigation is underway.
