Pune: IMA Wins Sabhikhi Cup 2026 as NDA Hosts Multi-Academy Sporting Event
Khadakwasla, 23rd March 2026: The Indian Military Academy emerged as the overall champion of the Sabhikhi Cup 2026, held at the National Defence Academy, after a week-long display of competitive excellence among cadets from premier military training institutions.
The tournament, held from March 17 to 21, saw participation from 429 cadets, including 98 female cadets, marking a notable step toward greater inclusivity in such inter-academy events.

The competition featured a range of sports disciplines, including cross-country, football, hockey, volleyball, lawn tennis, and squash, with cadets showcasing endurance, teamwork, and high standards of sportsmanship throughout the event.
The final day featured an intense football match, in which IMA defeated the host National Defence Academy team to clinch the title. Their consistent performance across multiple events also earned them the prestigious Sabhikhi Cup Rolling Trophy.

Officials said the tournament plays a key role in strengthening camaraderie and inter-service bonding among future officers of the armed forces, while reinforcing the NDA’s focus on holistic development and leadership training.
