Rickshaw Driver Arrested in Pune for Molesting 11-Year-Old; Chargesheet Filed in a Day
Hadapsar, 13th April 2026: The Hadapsar police have arrested a 55-year-old autorickshaw driver for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old schoolgirl and took the rare step of filing a chargesheet within 24 hours of registering the offence.
The accused, identified as Yunus Gaffar Khan, a resident of Kondhwa, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 6 while the minor was returning home from school. The accused allegedly approached the girl and committed an obscene act. The victim immediately informed her guardians, leading to a formal police complaint.
Following the registration of the FIR, the accused went into hiding. Police teams launched a manhunt, successfully traced Khan, and placed him under arrest. He was subsequently produced before a local court.
Officials stated that a swift investigation and the immediate collection of key evidence enabled the department to submit the chargesheet in less than a day. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Commissioner of Police Atulkumar Navgire, supported by officers from the Hadapsar police station.
