Pune: Two Brothers Drown in Gunjavani Dam Backwaters
Velhe, 12th April 2026: Two brothers drowned in a tragic incident at the backwaters of Gunjavani Dam in Velhe taluka of Pune district on Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place near Ghevande village, where the brothers had gone to install an agricultural water pump due to low water levels in the dam. During the process, the elder brother reportedly lost his balance and fell into the water.
On seeing him struggle, the younger brother jumped in to rescue him. However, both brothers drowned.
Local authorities and disaster management teams were alerted, following which a search operation was launched. After several hours of effort, both bodies were recovered.
