Pune, 23rd April 2026: Power supply to more than 8,600 consumers was disrupted in Talawade on Thursday after a large crane collapsed onto electricity infrastructure near Jyotiba Temple around 11.30 am, causing major damage to the distribution network.

According to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), the crane fell on a feeder line connected to the 22 kV Devi Indrayani Switching Station, affecting supply of two outgoing feeders serving Dehugaon and Talawade areas.

Officials said the outage impacted a total of 8,610 consumers, including 1,910 industrial users and 6,700 residential consumers.

The crane reportedly brought down one transformer and several electricity poles, leading to extensive damage.

MSEDCL said a police complaint has been filed against the crane owner in connection with the incident.

Repair work was launched on a war footing, with teams replacing damaged poles and snapped conductors. Officials said efforts were underway to restore supply by around 6.30 pm on Thursday.
