Pune: Ice Cream Vendor Molests 14-Year-Old Intellectually Disabled Girl in Mulshi, Arrested
Mulshi, 6th May 2026: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old intellectually disabled girl was molested by an ice cream vendor in a village under Mulshi taluka on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place around 2 pm when the victim, accompanied by her younger cousin, approached Pintu Shivkumar, who was selling ice cream on his two-wheeler. While handing over the ice cream, the accused allegedly pulled the girl towards him and molested her. The girl immediately screamed and ran home, where she informed her family about the ordeal.
Shivkumar, who resides in Sus area of Mulshi taluka, originally hails from Chidrawapur village in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. After the incident, he fled from the spot, but the girl’s parents and villagers chased and caught him before handing him over to the Paud police.
The Paud police have registered an FIR against the accused under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act. The victim underwent medical examination and police have launched further investigation.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the village, with residents condemning the assault. Locals have appreciated the swift action by the girl’s family and villagers in apprehending the accused. However, many have raised serious concerns over the safety of children in the area.
Police officials said the accused is being thoroughly interrogated and assured that every effort will be made to build a strong case with no leniency shown.
