Pune Police Arrest Man for Stealing Royal Enfield Bike

Viman Nagar, 7th May 2026: The Vimantal Police in Pune have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly stole a two-wheeler under the pretext of taking it for a test drive. The accused targeted a victim who had listed their vehicle for sale on the online marketplace, OLX.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Mujbata Iqbal Shaikh (27), a resident of Khadi Machine Chowk, Pisoli Road, Kondhwa, Pune.

According to the police, the complainant had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell their Royal Enfield Meteor 350 motorcycle. On the morning of March 10, 2026, around 10:30 AM, a user operating under the profile name “Ishita Mathur” expressed interest in purchasing the bike. Shortly after, a man arrived to inspect the vehicle. Under the guise of taking a test drive to check the motorcycle’s condition, the suspect fled with the bike.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a formal complaint at the Vimantal Police Station on March 14, 2026. A case was registered under FIR No. 152/2026, invoking Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

During the investigation, Police Constable (Amaldar) Jogdande obtained the details of the suspect’s OLX account and retrieved the Call Detail Records (CDR) of the linked mobile number. Through technical analysis and by diligently scanning CCTV footage across a 20-kilometer stretch, the police successfully zeroed in on the accused.

Following his arrest today, the police recovered the stolen Stellar Black Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (Registration Number: MH 12 UZ 8018), valued at approximately ₹1,00,000.

Further investigation is currently being conducted by Police Constable Prashant Mate.

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Somay Munde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lonikand Division) Nutan Pawar. The investigation team, led by Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav and Police Inspector (Crime) Sharad Shelke, included Sub-Inspector Nitin Rathod and police personnel Prashant Mate, Lalu Kahe, Ankush Jogdande, and Hari Punde.
