Pune, 8th May 2026: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has announced a hike of Rs 1.50 per kg in the retail price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for the vehicular segment in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and adjoining areas including Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi.

With the revision, the retail selling price of CNG has increased to Rs 92.25 per kg, effective from midnight of May 8-9, 2026, the company said in a statement.

According to MNGL, the increase has been necessitated due to a rise in the input cost of natural gas supplied for the CNG segment.

Despite the price hike, the company claimed that CNG continues to remain a cost-effective fuel option for consumers. At current fuel rates in Pune, CNG offers savings of around 45 per cent compared to petrol and nearly 22 per cent compared to diesel for passenger cars, the company said. For autorickshaws, the savings are estimated at around 24 per cent.

MNGL also clarified that the prices of Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supplied to households will remain unchanged.

The company has appealed to consumers to take note of the revised rates.
