Pune Crime: Gang Arrested for Robbing Youth After Contact Through Gay Dating App

Warje, 10th May 2026: The Warje Malwadi Police have arrested three persons and detained a minor for allegedly robbing a young man after befriending him through a gay dating app in Pune.

The arrested accused have been identified as Om Ganesh Waghmare (20), Ganesh Uttam Mane (27), both residents of Warje Malwadi, and Jagdish Ramu Pawar (23), a resident of Shivane. A minor involved in the case has also been taken into custody. A 25-year-old resident of Karvenagar lodged a complaint at the Warje Malwadi Police Station.

According to police officials, the complainant became acquainted with a minor through a gay dating app. The minor allegedly lured the victim into meeting him in the Karvenagar area. After meeting him, the accused reportedly took the victim on a two-wheeler to an isolated location, where the minor called his associates.

Police said the group threatened the victim and forced him to transfer Rs 8,600 online. The accused also allegedly snatched a silver chain from the victim before fleeing the spot.

Frightened by the incident, the victim later approached the police and lodged a complaint. Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, a police team conducted a technical investigation and traced the accused. Police Sub-Inspector Shankar Patil is further investigating the case.
