Pune Businessman Found Dead in Hotel Room on Apte Road, Police Suspect Suicide
Shivajinagar, 12th May 2026: A 61-year-old businessman from the Salisbury Park area was found dead in a hotel room on Apte Road in Pune’s Deccan area on Saturday afternoon. The businessman had been missing since Friday, following which his family filed a missing person complaint at the Swargate Police Station after they were unable to contact him.
According to police, hotel staff informed the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station that a guest, Ashok Milapchandji Jain (Mutha), who had checked into the hotel on Friday was not responding and was not opening the room door. A police team rushed to the spot and found the businessman dead inside the room after opening the door.
Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar said vomit marks were found at different places inside the room. Preliminary investigation suggests that the man may have consumed a poisonous substance. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide and have registered an accidental death report.
Police also recovered a note from the room, believed to have been written by the deceased. The note reportedly mentions financial difficulties. However, officials said the contents of the note would be verified in detail with the help of family members.
The incident has caused concern in business circles, and further investigation is underway.
