Pune Police Action After Alleged Sword-Wielding Bike Convoy Sparks Panic

Fursungi, 15th May 2026: A controversy erupted after NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar shared a video on social media platform X alleging that a large convoy of youths was seen moving through Dive Ghat in Purandar taluka carrying sharp weapons, triggering panic in the area.

Pawar claimed that around 100 to 150 vehicles were part of the convoy that travelled through the ghat area on Wednesday night. In his post, he alleged that the group was seen brandishing swords and sickles, calling it a serious threat to public order and warning that such incidents could contribute to rising criminal activity in Pune if not acted upon swiftly.

He urged the police to take strict action irrespective of political affiliations and ensure that such groups are dealt with firmly.

Following the incident, Fursungi Police have registered a case and initiated action. According to police, a case has been filed in connection with “bullet silencer and koyta terror” under Crime Register No. 201/2026 under Section 4(25) of the Arms Act along with Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Police said that three accused have been detained from the Wagholi area. They have been identified as Yash Lakshman Kute (20), Vedant Pramod Kuthe (20), and Prem Prasad Navale (20), all residents of Awhalwadi, Wagholi, Pune. In addition, a juvenile has also been taken into custody.

Senior Police Inspector Amol More of Fursungi Police Station said further investigation is underway and necessary legal action will be taken. The detained individuals are being taken to the spot for further verification and have been counselled regarding the seriousness of the offence.

Police added that the investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved and verify the full extent of the alleged convoy movement.
