Pune, 18th May 2026: In a bid to reduce traffic congestion and inconvenience caused by heavy vehicles on city roads, Pune Traffic Police have revised traffic regulations for RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) mixer vehicles. Relaxation in traffic restrictions during morning peak hours has been granted on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The new order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav following a joint meeting with the RMC Association. The revised rules will be implemented on a trial basis for one month.

The traffic department has clarified that no changes or relaxations have been granted for the movement of other heavy vehicles such as Hyva trucks, dumpers and goods trucks.

Key changes and conditions under the new order are as follows:

Relaxation on Specific Days: RMC mixer vehicles will be allowed movement during morning peak hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. However, restrictions during evening peak hours will continue as per the existing notification.

Rules for Red Zone Areas: In the city’s central “Red Zone” areas, RMC vehicles that obtain prior permission from the traffic department will be allowed entry during morning hours on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays. Evening restrictions, however, will remain in force.

Mandatory Safety Measures: All RMC vehicles must install 360-degree cameras or ensure that a cleaner/helper accompanies the vehicle. A one-month deadline has been given for compliance.

‘DD’ Machine Made Compulsory: All RMC plant operators have been directed to install ‘DD’ machines and conduct mandatory checks through these machines before mixer vehicles leave the plant premises.

The traffic police have also stated that RMC vehicles will continue to face entry restrictions in internal stretches beyond certain junctions on major city roads.

All traffic branch officers have been instructed to ensure that signboards regarding the revised rules are installed in the concerned areas by the Pune Municipal Corporation within seven days.
