Pune, 20th May 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have detained three persons from Uttarakhand in connection with the firing incident outside a furniture showroom in Ravet, in which a social media post allegedly issued in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility for the attack.

The detention was made by the anti-goonda squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police led by assistant police inspector Harish Mane. Police said the accused are allegedly linked to Arjun Bishnoi, a suspected associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The accused have been identified as Praveen Ram Niwase (23), Pankaj Kuldeep Rahathi (21), and Sagar Ajay Pal (21), all residents of Haryana. Officials said the trio were detained in Uttarakhand and are being brought to Pune for further investigation.

According to preliminary investigations, two unidentified persons had arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire outside the furniture showroom in Ravet before fleeing from the spot. Multiple bullets hit the signage and glass facade of the establishment, causing damage to the property.

Soon after the incident, senior police officers and Crime Branch teams reached the spot and launched an investigation. The area was cordoned off while forensic and ballistic experts collected evidence from the scene.

The case gained attention after a social media post claiming responsibility for the firing surfaced online and went viral. The message allegedly mentioned the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and contained threats directed at the furniture businessman.

Police officials said they are verifying the authenticity of the viral post and probing whether it was circulated by actual gang associates or by someone attempting to create fear and extort money in the gang’s name.

Police are also examining the possible connection of the social media account to Pune-based Shubham Lonkar, whose name had earlier surfaced in investigations related to the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai. Lonkar is currently absconding, police said.
