Pune, 22nd May 2026: Lok Sabha MP from Ahmednagar South and NCP (SP) leader Nilesh Lanke has sought a detailed inquiry by the Pune Municipal Corporation into the death of a six-year-old girl during treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, raising concerns over patient safety, emergency response systems and alleged irregularities in the hospital’s infrastructure.

In a representation submitted to PMC additional commissioner Omprakash Divte on Friday, Lanke termed the death of Priyanshi Bagde at the hospital as “extremely unfortunate” and demanded an impartial probe into the incident.

The MP also called for a special inspection to determine whether the hospital building has any unauthorised constructions, additional floors or structural modifications carried out in violation of approved plans.

Lanke urged the civic administration to verify the hospital’s building permissions, sanctioned layouts and actual construction on site. He also sought an independent structural audit of the building and inspection of fire safety systems, ICUs and operation theatres to assess compliance with safety norms.

The memorandum further demanded an inquiry into whether all permissions and safety certificates issued by the municipal corporation are being properly adhered to by the hospital administration.

The MP also asked the civic body to examine compliance with biomedical waste management rules, parking regulations, public access norms and other civic requirements. He said strict legal and administrative action should be initiated if any violations or unauthorised constructions are found.

Lanke additionally referred to reports claiming that the hospital has pending dues of nearly Rs 32 crore to the Pune Municipal Corporation and sought a review of the recovery process and related administrative matters.

Calling the issue larger than a single tragic death, Lanke said the matter concerns public healthcare standards, citizen safety and enforcement of civic regulations.
