Pune: Wakad Residents Protest Against Zepto, Over 200 People Delete App
Wakad, 25th May 2026: Residents of Sucasa Society on Datta Mandir Road in Wakad, Pimpri Chinchwad, have raised strong objections against the operations of quick-commerce platform Zepto in their neighbourhood, alleging that delivery activities linked to a nearby warehouse have been causing persistent disturbance and security concerns inside the residential complex.
According to residents, delivery personnel frequently move through the society premises as there is no separate access road leading to the warehouse located adjacent to the society. Residents alleged that the constant movement of riders through internal roads has disrupted the daily routine of families and created an atmosphere of insecurity within the housing complex.
Some residents also claimed that a few delivery workers were seen loitering unnecessarily inside the premises and behaving inappropriately, including allegedly being under the influence of alcohol on certain occasions.
In protest against the situation, residents have launched a campaign urging people to uninstall the Zepto mobile application. Society members said the campaign was intended to highlight what they described as negligence towards residents’ concerns.
Society secretary Sudhir Deshmukh alleged that a portion of the society’s security wall was demolished to facilitate the construction of the Zepto warehouse near the residential premises. He further claimed that a snooker club has also started operating at the same location.
Residents said repeated complaints regarding safety, access and inconvenience have not resulted in any concrete solution so far.
