Pune: Purandar Airport Project Gets Major Boost as 60% Farmers Agree to Land Acquisition, Rs 900 Crore Compensation Paid

Pune, 8th June 2026: The land acquisition process for the proposed Purandar International Airport has gathered momentum, with nearly 60 per cent of affected farmers consenting to part with their land. So far, consent has been obtained for the acquisition of 735.25 hectares, and compensation amounting to ₹900 crore has been disbursed to landowners, District Collector Jitendra Dudi said.

The airport project requires the acquisition of 1,216 hectares of land across seven villages in Purandar taluka. According to officials, the land acquisition process commenced on May 7 after the compensation package was finalised. The deadline for completing the acquisition process is June 10.

Under the compensation formula, affected farmers will receive a minimum of ₹1.61 crore per acre. After factoring in houses, orchards, borewells and other assets on the land, the compensation amount is expected to reach nearly ₹2 crore per acre in many cases.

Collector Dudi said the compensation is being directly deposited into farmers’ bank accounts after the completion of the required documentation. He added that the process has accelerated significantly in recent weeks.

Among the affected villages, farmers in Vanpuri have consented to the acquisition of 118 hectares, while approvals have been received for 24 hectares in Udachiwadi. In Kumbharvalan, farmers have agreed to the acquisition of 112 hectares, while consent has been received for 100 hectares in Pargaon. Similarly, 146 hectares in Ekhatpur, 150 hectares in Khanwadi and 65 hectares in Manjewadi have been cleared for acquisition.

Officials said that of the total 1,216 hectares required for the project, approvals have already been secured for 735.25 hectares. The administration expects further progress before the June 10 deadline.

The proposed Purandar International Airport is regarded as a key infrastructure project aimed at meeting the growing aviation needs of Pune and the surrounding region.
