Pune: Woman Poses as Police Officer to Jump Queue for Doctor’s Appointment, Arrested for Impersonation
Pune, 8th June 2026: A 25-year-old woman who allegedly posed as a police officer to secure a doctor’s appointment at a private clinic was arrested by the Pune police in the Camp area on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Samina Asif Inamdar alias Samina Ayub Pathan (25). According to police, she had aspired to join the police force and become an officer but was unsuccessful. She is currently employed with a private company.
The fraud came to light when a team from Lashkar police station, led by Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Shinde, was on patrol in the Camp area on June 6. During the patrol, officers noticed a woman standing outside a reputed private clinic wearing a police uniform with stars indicating the rank of a police sub-inspector.
Suspicious of her behaviour and movements, the police approached her for verification. When asked to identify the police station where she was posted and produce her identity card, the woman reportedly failed to provide satisfactory answers and began giving evasive responses.
The police then detained her for questioning, during which it was revealed that she was not a member of the police force and had been impersonating an officer.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Samina had been trying to secure a medical appointment at the clinic but was unable to do so because of heavy demand. Police said she allegedly wore the police uniform and attempted to use her purported status as a police officer to influence the clinic staff and obtain an earlier appointment.
A case has been registered against the accused at Lashkar police station and she has been arrested. Police are now investigating whether she had impersonated a police officer on previous occasions or used the uniform to deceive others.
