Pune: ACB Arrests Talathi, Private Agent From Charholi Over Rs 70,000 Bribe Demand for Inheritance Entry
Pune, 8th June 2026: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune, on Monday arrested a talathi and a private individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 from a complainant for processing a mutation entry in ancestral land records in Haveli taluka.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sunil Bhikaji Satose (44), a talathi posted at Charholi Budruk, and Nemaji Madhavrao Bhokare (40), a private individual who allegedly acted as an intermediary.
According to the ACB, the complainant had applied in December 2025 for the inclusion of his father and uncle’s names in the inheritance records of ancestral land located at Charholi Budruk following the death of his grandfather. Despite repeated follow-ups, the mutation entry was not processed.
On May 29, when the complainant approached the talathi’s office again, Satose allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1.8 lakh to complete the work and later agreed to settle for Rs 80,000. The complainant subsequently approached the ACB.
During verification conducted on June 4, the demand was allegedly confirmed. The amount was later negotiated to Rs 70,000, which, according to the ACB, the talathi instructed the complainant to hand over to Bhokare.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on Monday at the Charholi Budruk revenue office. Bhokare was allegedly caught accepting the bribe amount on behalf of the talathi, following which both accused were apprehended.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, is being registered against the duo at Dighi police station. Further investigation is underway.
