Pashan, 13th June 2026: A group of residents under the banner of Voice of Pashan has organised a Footpath Safety & Awareness Walk in Pashan on Sunday (14th June) to draw attention to pedestrian safety issues and the condition of footpaths in the area.

The walk is scheduled to take place from 8:00 am to 9:00 am on Balaji Mandir Lane and is expected to bring together local residents, senior citizens, children and volunteers. Organisers said the initiative aims to raise awareness about the need for safe, accessible and continuous pedestrian infrastructure.

According to Voice of Pashan, pedestrians in several parts of the locality face difficulties due to damaged or obstructed footpaths. The group has highlighted issues such as encroachments, illegal parking of vehicles on footpaths and inadequate maintenance, which it says force pedestrians to walk on roads and increase safety risks.

Representatives of the citizen group stated that the awareness walk is intended to encourage public discussion on pedestrian rights and the importance of maintaining footpaths for all users, including senior citizens, children, women and daily commuters.

The organisers said the initiative seeks to promote the development of safe and accessible footpaths, discourage encroachments and unauthorised parking on pedestrian pathways, and encourage greater civic participation in addressing local infrastructure issues.

As part of the campaign, Voice of Pashan has also submitted representations to various civic authorities, including officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s road, footpath and encroachment departments. The group has invited authorities to visit the area and assess the concerns raised by residents.

According to the organisers, the present condition of some footpaths poses challenges for pedestrians, particularly vulnerable groups such as senior citizens and children. They expressed hope that the awareness drive would help bring attention to the issue and encourage corrective measures.
