Pune, 20th June 2026: Commuters in Pune may soon be able to travel on both PMPML buses and Pune Metro using a single ticket or pass, with work on integrating the ticketing systems of the two public transport networks gathering pace.

To accelerate the project, a high-level meeting was recently held between officials of PMPML and officials of the company appointed to study and implement the integration. Discussions focused on linking the ticketing infrastructure of the two transport systems and identifying the most efficient and practical model for seamless travel.

Officials said the appointed firm has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive technical and operational assessment of the proposed integrated ticketing system. The company will evaluate commuter requirements as well as the operational needs of both PMPML and Pune Metro before submitting its recommendations.

The study is currently underway and the report is expected to be submitted within the next eight days. Based on the findings, authorities will take a final call on the implementation roadmap.

The integrated system is expected to allow passengers to switch between Metro services and PMPML buses without purchasing separate tickets. Commuters travelling by Metro and then boarding a PMPML bus, or vice versa, would be able to complete their journey using a single ticket or pass.

Officials said the move is likely to save time, reduce inconvenience caused by multiple ticket purchases and make public transport more efficient. The initiative is also expected to encourage greater use of public transport and help ease traffic congestion in the city.
