Pune, 22nd June 2026: Today, homeschooling families, educators, learning centres, and community leaders gathered in Pune for the launch of the India Homeschooler’s Club. It is an initiative created to strengthen existing systems for current, and future, families pursuing homeschooling, alternative schooling, open schooling, and learner-led education pathways.

The full-day event brought together families from different stages of their educational journeys. Some were experienced homeschoolers, while others were just beginning to explore alternatives to conventional schooling. Throughout the day, parents connected, shared experiences, discussed challenges and opportunities, and explored ways to better support one another. Children and teenagers participated in creative, recreational, leadership, and discussion-based activities designed especially for them.

The India Homeschooler’s Club is led by Dr. Harshali Murudkar and Mrs. Trupti Gowariker, founders of the Ankuram Group of Institutes, in collaboration with Ketika Kasetwar, Educational Consultant for Gifted & 2E students and an admin of the Pune Homeschooling Parents’ WhatsApp groups.

Harshali brings over twenty-five years of experience in education, mentoring, assessment, human development, and alternative learning pathways. Trupti’s work spans psychology, sociology, life-skills education, student mentoring, entrepreneurship, and open schooling. And Ketika is a homeschooling parent, alternate-education advocate, active researcher working to improve education systems in India and a community builder.

Speaking about the need for the initiative, Ketika Kasetwar said:

“Having been a part of Pune’s homeschooling community for almost a decade, I have seen families spend enormous amounts of time searching for information, mentors, academic pathways, and simply a sense of belonging. Through the India Homeschooler’s Club, we hope to strengthen the support systems available to alternative learning families by connecting them with the people, expertise, global opportunities, and communities they need.”

Speaking about the vision behind the initiative, Dr. Harshali Murudkar said:

“Over the last decade, we have witnessed a growing number of families exploring educational pathways beyond conventional schooling. Parents today are seeking learning environments that recognize individual strengths, diverse learning profiles, and different definitions of success. Our centre will bridge this gap by ensuring that every child is understood through the lens of their unique abilities and every family has access to the guidance needed to make informed educational decisions.”

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Mrs. Trupti Gowariker said:

“Parents, educators, mentors, counsellors, learning centres, and community leaders all play an important role in a child’s learning journey. Meaningful support happens when these stakeholders come together, share resources, and learn from one another. Through this club, we hope to build a collaborative community that empowers both families and educators while expanding opportunities for learners across India and abroad.”

The founders also announced plans to establish local chapters of the India Homeschooler’s Club across multiple cities, enabling families to access support, mentoring, workshops, community events, and learning opportunities closer to every alternate-schooled student.
