Explained: Who Are Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and the 26-Year-Old Realtor Ketan Agarwal?

Pune, 26th June 2026: The investigation into the alleged murder of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with the two arrested accused — his fiancée Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary — making conflicting allegations against each other during questioning, according to police sources. While Siya has allegedly claimed that Chetan masterminded the conspiracy to kill Ketan, Chetan has denied the accusation, alleging instead that Siya insisted on eliminating her fiancé despite his willingness to elope and marry her.

The conflicting statements have prompted investigators to closely examine the backgrounds of the accused and the victim as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding Ketan’s death after he allegedly fell from Lohagad Fort near Pune.

Who is Siya Goyal?

Siya Goyal, 20, is a commerce student at a reputed college in Pune. She belongs to a business family residing in the upscale Bibwewadi locality near Market Yard. Her family is engaged in the dry fruits business and lives in a bungalow named ‘Leela Kunj’.

According to people close to the family, Siya was known to be cheerful and had a keen interest in fashion. She had also recently started a bakery venture, though little information about the business is publicly available. Following her arrest, Ketan’s mother described Siya as a pleasant and soft-spoken young woman.

“She was like any other well-mannered girl and always had a smile on her face. She visited our home several times for religious ceremonies and birthdays. We had also gone shopping and dined together,” Rakhi Agrawal said.

Wedding planned in Udaipur

The Agrawal and Goyal families are distantly related, and Ketan and Siya were scheduled to marry later this year.

The family had placed only two conditions before the marriage: that alcohol would not be consumed in their household and that Siya would not attend late-night parties.

The couple got engaged in a grand ceremony at a luxury hotel in Pune on Valentine’s Day this year. Their wedding was planned at a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and two chartered aircraft had reportedly been booked to ferry guests. Following Ketan’s death, photographs and videos of the couple together have circulated widely on social media.

Chetan Chaudhary’s background

Chetan Chaudhary belongs to a family engaged in the spices and dry fruits business under the name ‘Dhanshree Masale’ in Pune’s Market Yard area. Residents familiar with the family said Chetan was often seen either playing within the housing society or assisting his father, Babulal Chaudhary, in the family business.

His father has alleged that Siya deliberately implicated his son in the case.

Chetan’s lawyer, Ram Shahane, has argued that the prosecution has not yet produced concrete evidence linking his client to the alleged crime. While acknowledging that Chetan and Siya were in regular contact, the defence maintained that their conversations were related only to friendship and business.

Police have claimed that the two exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls. However, Shahane argued that investigators have not yet presented details regarding the duration, context or evidentiary value of those calls before the court.

Who was Ketan Agrawal?

Ketan Agrawal, 26, lived with his family at the Lodha Belmondo residential complex in Gahunje, one of Pune’s premium housing projects. Friends and neighbours described him as warm, cheerful and well-liked.

Residents said the Agrawal family enjoyed cordial relations with everyone in the housing society.

After completing higher education in Massachusetts, United States, Ketan returned to India two years ago. He initially worked as a management trainee with Mahindra Logistics before joining his family’s real estate firm, Success Group, as Chief Marketing Officer.

Family business

Several members of the Agrawal family hold key positions in Success Group. Ketan’s father, Vishal Agrawal, is the company’s Chief Executive Officer, while his grandfather, Devichand Agrawal, serves as Chairman.

According to the company’s website, Ketan was responsible for strategic marketing, business development and developing built-to-suit industrial real estate projects. He was also involved in sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

The company has developed five industrial projects in Chakan and six residential projects across localities including Akurdi, Ravet, Nigdi and Moshi.

Police investigations into Ketan Agrawal’s death are continuing, with investigators expected to examine the contradictory statements made by the two accused as they piece together the sequence of events leading to the alleged murder.
