Pune: Siya Goyal’s Parents Appear Before Police for Questioned in Ketan Agarwal murder Case A Day After Brother’s 10-Hour Interrogation
Pune, 27th June 2026: The parents of Siya Goyal, one of the two accused in the alleged murder of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, appeared before the Pune Rural Police on Saturday for questioning as investigators widened their probe into the case. Their appearance comes a day after police interrogated Siya’s brother, Sahil Goyal, for nearly 10 hours.
Police are probing whether Siya’s family was aware of her relationship with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and if they had any knowledge of the alleged conspiracy to kill Agarwal.
Siya and Chetan, who have been remanded to seven days of police custody, are accused of pushing Agarwal off the edge of Lohagad Fort on June 18, allegedly after planning the murder over several days. According to investigators, Siya was engaged to Agarwal but did not want to marry him as she was in a relationship with Chetan.
The case was initially registered as an accidental death after Agarwal fell into a deep gorge. However, the investigation later uncovered what police described as a love triangle and an alleged premeditated murder, leading to the arrest of Siya and Chetan.
On Friday, police questioned Siya’s brother Sahil Goyal for around 10 hours. The interrogation assumed significance as Sahil and Chetan are known to be close friends. Sources said investigators questioned him about Siya and Chetan’s relationship and the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
On Saturday, Siya’s parents appeared before the Lonavala Rural Police for questioning. Investigators are expected to seek answers on whether they knew about Siya and Chetan’s relationship, whether Siya had objected to marrying Agarwal, and whether she was being pressured into the marriage.
Police are also likely to question them about whether they were aware that Siya continued meeting Chetan after her engagement to Agarwal, Sahil’s friendship with Chetan, and the three visits allegedly made by the trio to Lohagad Fort before the incident. Investigators are further expected to ask if they had any knowledge of an alleged plot to kill Agarwal.
Meanwhile, Ketan Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, has sought a fast-track trial in the case and requested the appointment of senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as the special public prosecutor. The Maharashtra government has accepted both demands, as announced by CM Fadnavis on Friday.
The investigation is continuing, with police questioning members of both families and other persons connected to the case.
