‘Justice for Ketan’: Hundreds Join Candlelight March at Pune’s Lodha Belmondo Township
Gahunje, 27th June 2026: A large number of residents of Lodha Belmondo Township in Gahunje came together on Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil, demanding justice for Ketan Agarwal, whose alleged murder at Lohagad Fort has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra.
Holding candles and placards bearing the message “Justice for Ketan,” residents marched peacefully through the township, expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and calling for a thorough, fair and impartial investigation.
People of all age groups participated in the vigil, reflecting widespread concern over the case.
The investigation took a significant turn after Pune Rural Police alleged that Ketan was intentionally pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. His fiancée, Siya Goyal, and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
Speaking during the march, a member of Ketan’s family said they were struggling to understand why the marriage proposal had been accepted if there were doubts about the relationship from the beginning.
“Our families met several times before the wedding, and every detail about Ketan was shared openly. If there was any hesitation or disagreement, it could have been expressed at that stage. Instead, the relationship continued, they spent time together, and preparations for the wedding moved ahead. We cannot understand why this happened if the marriage was not acceptable. We have only one request—that our son receives justice and those responsible are punished according to the law,” the family member said.
Residents said the march was organised to stand in solidarity with the Agarwal family and to reinforce the message that justice should be delivered without delay. The peaceful gathering concluded with participants observing a moment of silence in Ketan’s memory.
Pune Rural Police continue to investigate the case by examining digital evidence, witness statements and other forensic material collected during the probe.
