Pune: Aishwarya Pathare’s Proposal for Ahilyadevi Holkar Women’s Award Gets PMC Approval
Pune, 30th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the launch of the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Mahila Samman Puraskar’ to recognise women who have made outstanding contributions across various fields. The award has been instituted as part of the birth anniversary commemorations of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar.
The proposal, moved by corporator Aishwarya Surendra Pathare, received approval during an all-party meeting attended by Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale and members from across party lines.
The proposal was seconded by corporators Pooja Jagade and Komal Navale.
The annual award will honour women who have made significant contributions in areas such as women and child development, women’s empowerment, self-reliance, prevention of atrocities against women, dowry eradication, prevention of female foeticide, healthcare, literacy, girls’ education, social awareness, and the welfare of women and children.
The award will be presented every year on May 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar. The Pune Municipal Corporation will make the necessary financial provisions and complete the administrative formalities for instituting and presenting the award annually.
Welcoming the approval, corporator Aishwarya Surendra Pathare said the initiative aims to recognise women whose work has created a positive impact on society.
“I proposed the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Mahila Samman Puraskar’ to honour women who have made remarkable contributions in different sectors. I am delighted that the proposal has been unanimously approved at the all-party meeting. This award will ensure deserving women receive due recognition for their service to society and will inspire future generations. I sincerely thank Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale and all the honourable members for supporting this proposal,” she said.
