Pune: Airport Metro Link, VIP Road Expansion Discussed at High-Level Meeting

Viman Nagar, 1st July 2026: A high-level meeting was held to review the proposed Ramwadi–Pune Airport connecting Metro line, the beautification and widening of VIP Road, and various civic issues affecting residents of the Burma Shell (Indiranagar) area in Ward No. 3.
The meeting was held under the guidance of Union Minister of State and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol and attended by Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar. PMC corporators Surendra Pathare and Aishwarya Surendra Pathare were also present.
During the meeting, officials held detailed discussions on the proposed Metro link connecting Ramwadi to Pune Airport. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the area by providing commuters with faster, safer and modern public transport while easing traffic congestion.
The meeting also reviewed plans for the beautification and widening of VIP Road. Officials discussed improving road infrastructure, enhancing aesthetics and creating better public amenities to accommodate increasing traffic and support the area’s rapid development.
In addition, various issues concerning residents of the Burma Shell (Indiranagar) locality in Ward No. 3 were discussed in detail. The deliberations focused on housing-related concerns, civic amenities, infrastructure gaps and other demands raised by local residents. Officials expressed a positive approach towards taking the necessary steps to ensure that these issues are addressed at the earliest.
Corporator Aishwarya Surendra Pathare said the meeting reflected the administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development while ensuring that the concerns of local residents are not overlooked. She said the proposed Metro connectivity, VIP Road improvements and resolution of civic issues would contribute significantly to the area’s planned growth.
Corporator Surendra Pathare said the focus remains on securing timely solutions to residents’ problems and ensuring better civic infrastructure. He added that the development would continue to be pursued in coordination with the state and civic authorities, with priority given to projects that improve the quality of life for citizens.
