Pune: Landslide Near Sinhagad Fort Entrance; Fort Closed to Tourists as Precaution
Sinhagad, 3rd July 2026: A landslide occurred near the main entrance of Sinhagad Fort on Friday morning following continued rainfall in the region, prompting the administration to temporarily close the popular tourist destination as a safety measure.
According to officials, the landslide took place near the fort’s primary access point. Although no injuries or damage have been reported, authorities expressed concern over the possibility of additional landslides due to persistent rain and unstable conditions along the ghat section leading to the fort.
In view of the prevailing weather and the risk of further rockfalls, the administration has decided to keep Sinhagad Fort closed to visitors for the day.
Officials have appealed to tourists to cooperate with the restrictions and avoid travelling to the fort until conditions improve. Visitors have also been urged to exercise caution during the monsoon season, as heavy rainfall can increase the risk of landslides in hilly areas.
The administration said the situation will be reviewed based on weather conditions, and the fort will be reopened to tourists once it is considered safe for public access.
