Pune: Varandha Ghat Landslide Halts Traffic on Bhor–Mahad Road; No Casualties Reported
Bhor, 3rd July 2026: A landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall has disrupted traffic on the Bhor–Mahad road passing through Varandha Ghat on National Highway 965DD, officials said on Friday.
The landslide occurred within the limits of Shirgaon village in Bhor taluka after the ghat region received heavy rain over the past two days. Large quantities of soil, rocks, trees, and vegetation slid onto the roadway, completely blocking the route and bringing traffic to a standstill.
Fortunately, no vehicles or pedestrians were on the affected stretch when the landslide occurred, and no casualties or injuries have been reported.
A team from the Bhor administration has reached the site and has begun clearing the debris from the road. Officials said restoration work is progressing, and vehicular movement will resume once the accumulated soil, rocks, and fallen trees are removed and the road is declared safe for traffic.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the Varandha Ghat stretch and follow official updates before planning their journey, as intermittent rainfall continues in the region.
