Pune, 3rd July 2026: A Shiv Sena district chief and his associate have been arrested after an alleged firing incident triggered by a land dispute at a construction site on the Sus-Nande Road in the early hours of Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Balasaheb Chandere (45), the Shiv Sena’s district chief from Sus village, and Sandesh Mane (37), a resident of Katraj. Bavdhan police have seized a pistol and four live cartridges from the duo.

Police said an argument broke out between the two sides over a disputed parcel of land. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a scuffle, following which Chandre allegedly pulled out a pistol. As those present attempted to flee, he allegedly fired a round. No injuries were reported.

Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar of Bavdhan police station said police received information about the firing shortly after the incident. “We received information about the firing around 1 am on Thursday. Balasaheb Chandere and his associate were taken into custody immediately,” Pawar said.
