Pune, 3rd July 2026: A new lead has emerged in the investigation into the murder of Ketan Agrawal, with police questioning a man who was allegedly informed about the murder plot before it was carried out.

According to sources, the suspect is a classmate of the prime accused, Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators suspect that Chaudhary and co-accused Siya Goyal had disclosed their plan to kill Agrawal to him before the incident.

Police allege that on June 18, Chaudhary and Goyal pushed Agrawal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort, causing him to plunge nearly 350 feet into a gorge, resulting in his death. Sources said the duo had invited the classmate to join them on the trek that day, but he declined.

The Pune Rural Police are now questioning the man to ascertain the extent of his knowledge about the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are trying to determine whether he was aware of the plan in advance and, if so, why he did not alert anyone.

According to sources, Chaudhary and Goyal had allegedly discussed their intention to eliminate Agrawal with the classmate before the incident. Police are examining whether these conversations amounted to prior knowledge of the crime or were merely casual discussions.

Investigators have also found that after Agrawal’s death, Chaudhary first met the same classmate. Goyal is also believed to have spoken to him after the incident. Police are probing the nature of those conversations to determine whether the accused merely informed him about the incident or discussed other aspects of the alleged conspiracy.

Sources said the classmate is a native of Beed and is currently employed with a private company in Balewadi, Pune. Police have found that Chaudhary had been in regular contact with him since the last week of May. Investigators are now collecting the man’s call detail records, chat history, location data and other digital evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
