Pune, 3rd July 2026: The Vadgaon Maval court on Friday remanded Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary to judicial custody in the murder case of Pune-based builder Ketan Agarwal, after declining the police’s request for an extension of their custodial interrogation.

Addressing reporters after the hearing, defence counsel Vipul Dushing said the police had sought a three-day extension of custody, citing five grounds for further investigation. “The court was not convinced that further police custody was warranted and, accordingly, remanded both accused to judicial custody,” he said.

Dushing added that the investigating agency did not move any application seeking permission to conduct a lie detector test on the accused. “No such request was made before the court today. It appears the police do not consider it necessary for the investigation at this stage,” he said.

Goyal, 20, and Chaudhary, 22, are accused of murdering 25-year-old Agarwal by allegedly pushing him into a 350-foot gorge at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18. Agarwal, who was engaged to Goyal, was scheduled to marry her in November this year.
