Pune, 3rd July 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced a 4% rebate on the general tax component for property owners who pay their property tax online for the 2026-27 financial year between July 1 and September 30. The civic body’s Tax Assessment and Collection Department has appealed to taxpayers who are yet to clear their dues to avail of the concession by making online payments within the stipulated period.

To improve tax compliance, the department has been sending SMS alerts to property owners regarding tax payments, rebate schemes, due dates and outstanding dues. It has also launched a tele-calling initiative to directly contact taxpayers, inform them about their payment status, guide them on available concessions and assist them with online and offline payment options. Officials said the data-driven communication system has helped increase awareness and encouraged more property owners to pay their taxes on time.

At the same time, the civic body has stepped up recovery action against defaulters. More than 35,000 pre-attachment notices have been issued through its 18 ward level offices. The corporation has now begun attachment proceedings against non-residential, industrial and mixed-use properties whose owners failed to pay taxes despite receiving notices during the first quarter. Water connections of defaulting residential properties will also be disconnected.

According to PCMC, 3,47,564 property owners have paid their taxes online in the first quarter of 2026-27, up from 3.37 lakh in the corresponding period last year, continuing the steady rise in online tax payments over the past several years.

Mayor Ravi Landge urged taxpayers who are yet to pay their dues to avail of the 4% rebate, saying timely tax payment directly contributes to the city’s development. Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi thanked more than 3.47 lakh property owners for paying online and appealed to the remaining taxpayers to do the same before September 30. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sachin Pawar warned that strict action against defaulters had already begun and urged them to clear their dues immediately to avoid attachment or disconnection of water supply while also availing of the available rebate.
