Pune, 4th July 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued show-cause notices to 15 private hospitals for allegedly violating provisions of the Bombay Nursing Homes Registration Act, 1949, including failing to prominently display treatment charges and patients’ rights.

The action follows inspections carried out by the civic body’s health department between January and June in response to citizen complaints and routine compliance checks.

The hospitals have been directed to rectify the deficiencies within a stipulated period, failing which action will be initiated under the provisions of the Act.

The notices have been issued to hospitals of varying sizes, including small, medium and large healthcare establishments.

Under Section 7 of the Bombay Nursing Homes Registration Act, every registered nursing home is required to prominently display its schedule of charges and other prescribed information, including patients’ rights, at a conspicuous location within the premises.

PMC officials said the civic body generally issues reminders and provides hospitals an opportunity to comply before recommending penalties, including fines or suspension of registration in cases of continued non-compliance.
