Pune Traffic Police Invite Volunteers for Palkhi Sohala 2026; Online Registration Begins
Pune, 4th July 2026: Ahead of the annual Palkhi Sohala 2026, the Pune City Traffic Police have launched an online volunteer registration drive, inviting citizens to participate in traffic management, public guidance and crowd coordination during the three-day procession scheduled from July 9 to July 11, 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen traffic regulation and ensure the safe and smooth movement of lakhs of devotees visiting the city during the revered Wari procession.
Citizens interested in serving as volunteers can register through the official Google Form released by the Traffic Branch. The Pune Traffic Police have appealed to applicants to fill in all required details accurately while submitting their online registration.
To prepare volunteers for their responsibilities, the Traffic Branch has organised special training sessions on July 6 and July 7 at the Pune City Traffic Branch Office, Yerawada. The sessions will be held in two batches from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Volunteers may attend any one session as per their convenience, where they will receive guidance on traffic management, public safety, coordination and their duties during the Palkhi procession.
The Traffic Police emphasised that the Palkhi Sohala is an important part of Maharashtra’s cultural and spiritual heritage, attracting a massive influx of devotees every year. Effective traffic management and public cooperation are therefore essential for ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims and commuters alike.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare has appealed to citizens to actively participate in this public service initiative and extend their support to the administration by volunteering during the Palkhi Sohala.
