Pune: Holiday Declared for All Schools in Lonavala on Monday Amid Heavy Rain Forecast
Lonavala, 5th July 2026: The Lonavala Municipal Council has declared a holiday for all anganwadis, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools within its jurisdiction on Monday, July 6, in view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The order, issued by Lonavala Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ashok Sabale on Sunday, cited the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Pune district between July 5 and July 7.
The civic body said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure due to the likelihood of intense rainfall and in the interest of students’ safety.
While educational institutions will remain closed for students, the order directs all headmasters, teachers and non-teaching staff to report to duty as usual and remain available for disaster management work, if required, as per the directions of the local administration.
