Pune: Family Feared Trapped After Landslide Hits House in Maval Village; NDRF Deployed

Lonavala, 6th July 2026: A house was hit by a landslide in Patan village near Bhaja Buddhist Caves of Maval taluka in Pune district early Monday morning, raising fears that an entire family may be trapped beneath the debris.

According to preliminary information, the landslide occurred in the early hours of the day following heavy rainfall in the region. Authorities suspect that all members of the family residing in the house could be trapped under the collapsed structure.

The Pune District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) said that immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Maval Tehsildar rushed to the spot and rescue operations were launched.

In view of the seriousness of the incident, assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was sought. Accordingly, a 30-member team from the 5th Battalion of the NDRF, Pune, comprising one officer, two senior personnel and 27 rescue personnel, was dispatched to the site at 5:50 am with the necessary disaster response equipment.

The rescue team is being led by Inspector Ravinder under the supervision of Assistant Commandant Chandraketu Sharma.

Rescue operations are currently underway.
