Maval Landslide: Two Bodies Recovered, 25 Evacuated as Rescue Operation Continues in Patan Village

Lonavala, 6th July 2026: A major rescue operation is underway in Patan village of Maval taluka in Pune district after a landslide buried a house in the early hours of Monday, raising fears that four to five members of a family are trapped beneath the debris.

According to the Pune District Disaster Management Office (DDMO), the incident occurred following heavy rainfall in the region. Soon after receiving information about the landslide, the Maval Tehsildar reached the spot and rescue operations were initiated.

To assist in the operation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed a 30-member team from its 5th Battalion in Pune. The team, led by Inspector Ravinder under the supervision of Assistant Commandant Chandraketu Sharma, left for the site at 5:50 am with specialised search-and-rescue equipment.

As of 1:20 pm on July 6, the NDRF confirmed that two bodies had been recovered from the debris.

The rescue team has, however, evacuated 25 people from the affected area as a precautionary measure to ensure their safety. Search-and-rescue operations are continuing to locate the family members believed to be trapped beneath the collapsed house.

Officials said the exact number of people trapped is yet to be confirmed. Rescue personnel are working in challenging conditions due to continuous rainfall and unstable terrain.
